Picture it: you’re in the middle of the woods, without cell service, no WiFi, in a small cabin, without any mirrors, with two of your close friends — sounds perfect, right? Well, it was. Our “getaway with Getaway” superseded our expectations. This was the most peaceful, euphoric, and relaxing two-night stay that I’ve ever experienced. I was afforded the opportunity to really connect, get to know, and spend quality time with my friends, while also connecting with nature. Getaway House is such a great idea — you get a modern-day cabin-like experience for a very affordable price. The escape is great for a chill date night/weekend or a fun way to literally, getaway with friends without being distracted from the outside world. My girlfriends and I literally talked about everything under the sun, laughed until we cried, played rotations of Phase 10, Uno, and Taboo, and drank wine...actually, lots of wine and champagne (LOL).
Do I have you curious yet? I hope so. The booking process is super easy. The website gives you every answer to every question you may have. Once you book, you’ll receive an email and text confirmation with the address, the name of your cabin, and code to enter. Upon arriving, there was a nice little note on top of the cellphone lockbox (which was one of my favorite components, btw). There’s no WiFi and you barely have cell service, might as well lock your phone up to get the full experience right? You’ll see in the pictures, the set-up of the cabin, which was super tiny, might I add, which is why I don’t think a getaway house would be functional for more than four people due to the number of beds and space. It was the perfect size for the three of us. There’s a toilet, shower, cutlery and cooking utensils, pots and pans, a mini fridge, sink, and two-eye stove — just the perfect amount of amenities for your trip. My girls and I spent 3 days and 2 nights so we stocked up on snacks and food before we arrived and cooked every meal we had. (I even experienced cooking popcorn on a stove for the first time since there was no microwave; it's the little things.) We were welcomed with a s’mores kit so, during our second night, we fired up our little campfire, made them, and appreciated our time in nature. We took pictures, did face masks, and simply enjoyed each other's company. It was refreshing to just forget about the outside world and the fact that we’re in the middle of a pandemic. I've returned feeling rejuvenated and more grateful than before. This adventure was another small reminder that we have way more than we really need to survive and be happy. I think I can speak for all of us in saying that this trip was one for the books and will definitely be happening again. I give Getaway House a 10/10. I will definitely be staying again, hopefully at another location.
Check it out and enjoy the pics!
As always,
Sending love, light, and peace,
